نصح الدكتور مجدي بدران استشاري الأطفال وعضو الجمعية المصرية للحساسية والمناعة وزميل معهد الطفولة بجامعة عين شمس بالعودة إلى استخدام الأواني النحاسية مرة آخرى ،نظرا لأنه ثبت علميا أن'للنحاس قدرة فائقة على القضاء على جميع فيروسات الأنفلونزا في مدة زمنية تستغرق 6 ساعات.
وقال الدكتور مجدي بدران - في تصريح السبت - إن النحاس له قدرة على وقف نمو العديد من الميكروبات لذا بدأت المستشفيات الكبرى في الغرب باستخدام مقابض الأبواب المصنوعة من النحاس واستخدام أواني نحاسية للحد من نقل العدوى بالميكروبات.
وأضاف أن الأبحاث العلمية كشفت عن انتشار البكتيريا في أنابيب أجهزة التكييف الخالية من النحاس وتنعدم في الأنابيب المصنوعة من النحاس وتبين أن إضافة النحاس إلى مكونات الكمامات التنفسية (الماسكات) , يحمي من مخاطر انتقال الميكروبات إلى اليدين وانتشار الميكروبات في البيئة بعد التخلص من هذه الكمامات.
وأشار إلى أن ذلك يبشر بإمكانية استخدام النحاس في تغطية الأسطح المعرضة للمس وبالتالي منع نقل العدوى من الأدوات الطبية ومقابض صنابير المياه ومقابض الأبواب والأدراج وأوعية جمع إفرازات المرضى.
