It is imperative that you understand before beginning treatment to help you stop smoking that medication only tends to half the problem of tobacco addiction. If you are not taking measures to find more appropriate habits with which to occupy your time when you quit smoking, you may be at high risk for relapse. Smoking cessation products are meant to provide you temporary relief from the withdrawal symptoms your body experiences when you claim your freedom from tobacco.
Nicotine Gum
Nicotine gum has been around for years. It is one of the original stop smoking aids that has successfully helped hundreds of thousands of smokers quit smoking. Gum is sometimes misunderstood as a result of failure to read user instructions. Nicotine gum is not like regular chewing gum, and it is not intended to be chewed on as such. Conversely, it is a medicinal supply of nicotine administered by holding a partially chewed piece between your gum and cheek.
Long term use of nicotine gum has been known to lead to mouth sores and other dental complications. As such, it should be used sparingly and temporarily. Other possible side effects include dizziness, hiccups and heartburn.
Lozenge
The nicotine lozenge has been around for a few years and it quite similar to gum. The main difference is that it is sucked on instead of chewed. Again, however, proper placement is on the side of your mouth. Both short-term side effects and possibility of long-term oral damage are the same as gum.
Nicotine Patch
The nicotine patch is a method of administering a regular flow of nicotine to your body through the use of a transdermal patch placed on your skin. It is strongly recommended to apply the nicotine patch in the morning and remove it before bedtime. Some of the most common side effects of the patch are: Mild to severe skin irritation, itching, dizziness
Natural Stop Smoking Spray
Natural stop smoking spray is a smoke deter that is used to combat the physical withdrawals and symptoms of irritability caused by stop smoking. This is one of the most effective stop smoking aids, as there are a wealth of benefits and no reported side effects.
Smokeless Cigarettes
Smokeless cigarettes are also referred to as e-cigarettes, and they are a simulation of a cigarette through which nicotine is delivered via an electronic apparatus. Common side effects are: Dizziness, hiccups, heartburn, increased dependence on e-cig, and long-term side effects are not yet known as there has not been sufficient time to study.
Each stop smoking aid works in its own way to curb the physical withdrawal symptoms your body experiences when you quit smoking. It is strongly suggested to combine stop smoking aids with a behavior modification plan that will help you stop smoking now and forever.
