CASPA - Floyd
Dear
Bassem,
The killing of
George Floyd, as well as those of Ahmaud Arbery and
many others recently, have been a shocking reminder of the racism that continues in this country. The protests we have seen
around the world have reminded us of the understandable anger of
so many people at persistent systemic racism, as well as the power we all have
to mobilize against it. As an organization guided by its
mission of “Health For All,” PAEA understands that racism
is a significant factor in health and health care. As the
only national organization representing all accredited PA programs (and
those in the accreditation pipeline) across the country, PAEA is committed to
providing ongoing support for faculty, students, and aspiring PAs.
We know there is work to be done. We will continue to
learn more about student experiences so we can help identify
a path forward in ending racism and injustice – in our communities, in
our health care system, in our programs, and in ourselves.
One way that we’ve tried to provide this support is by hosting a student Town Hall , where PA students
bravely contributed their concerns and experiences to a
larger conversation about implicit bias, systemic racism, and public
health. More than 1,500 students signed up for this webinar, despite a
quick turnaround – a testament to their need for support and a safe outlet
for their voices. We hosted a similar Town Hall this
week for faculty, to allow them to share their concerns,
grief, hopes, and ideas for change. We are working to understand how
PAEA can support students in successfully fulfilling their dream
of becoming a PA. Our goal is to emerge from these situations stronger and
with a better understanding of where our shortcomings are and what
the right next steps are to address these issues.
Racism is a public health crisis, and through this crisis, we must
all do our part to lift those voices that are working to promote equity. It
is an honor for PAEA to have contributed the platform to elevate your
voices. We heard from you. And we will continue to hear and see you. 04 June, 2020
The Loyal Friend
The
Loyal Friend
From Book:
Many of those who have bronchial asthma avoid the
inhaler…
Fearing this tool that they believe that it would
turn life upside down…
And we are listening to these different comments
that have the same exact meaning…
“Please, do not prescribe an inhaler for me!”
“Not my daughter, doctor, she is a bride, can we
avoid the inhaler?!”
“Please, there is no need for an inhaler!”
“An inhaler?! Oh no, I don’t like to get used to
it!”
“Additionally, people would see me using it,
that’s not a chance!!”
“My son is just a kid in an elementary grade and
you are advising with an inhaler in his age?!”
As well as many different series of comments,
refusals, and questionnaires…
While not all the doctors would try to convince
their patients with its crucial role within the hard medical pressure…
And that’s for many considerations such as their time
shortage or this dominating idea of refusal to this kind of good friendship
with the inhaler…
Therefore, doctors turn to use cortisone through
tablets, injections, or syrups…
Seeking to control the inflammation caused by the
asthmatic attacks and the secretions that fill the bronchi in cases of
hypersensitivity reactions in order to maintain the anatomical shape of it in a
satisfying way…
Why the patient or his family would refuse this
loyal friend that is called “the inhaler”?
Why is it refused by the society in general?
And here let’s admit that this royal friend is
such confirmation on an abnormal occurring situation just like Insulin for
diabetic patients.
And we shall respect this point of view indicates
how much people get used to it!...
Let’s now discuss this matter of “familiarity”
Yes…
, While the asthmatic patient is to get used to
this loyal friend…
And the reason behind this familiarity is not
certainly the inhaler…
It because of the allergy itself…
It goes in the following direction…
The patient gets confronted with a subject that
irritates his bronchia such as dust, smoke, perfumes, tension, or even a strong
physical effort, anything that could cause asthma…
Resulting in asthmatic crises and wheezy chest…
Therefore, the patient resorts to his loyal
friend which does the job with an extraordinary dedication to save him…
He got used to it in case he encountered such a
problem…
Though many people picture another story…
That the patient uses his inhaler in an
obligatory way while he doesn’t suffer asthmatic attack…
, Habitually…
As a matter of fact, the inhaler has two
functions…
It works as a direct treatment performance during asthma…
And it works as a precautionary factor to maintain
the bronchi healthy in case there was any hurting element for the bronchi...
This combination or mixture indicates how we
don’t appreciate or see how this loyal friend is crucial…
So…
The professional physician would classify his patients
according to age, career, and social aspects and then starts to plan a special
tactic and timings that suit the case regarding the loyal friend’s dosage…
The essential one…
Essential!!
Yes, indeed, at least it doesn’t cause any side
effects as the case with many other treatments, it is just like the skincare
cream or eye drops….
Such an accurate topical dedication…very
impressive and respectful…
Without wasting any more time in blood circulation
to reach the target, what leads to a save rescue and an effective precaution…
Certainly and naturally, the long treatment for
those who have a chronic respiratory sensitivity and the medical interaction
with them can’t ignore the inhaler which has cortisone, the masterpiece that
works on getting rid of the bronchial inflammation, maintaining good vital
health of the bronchia…
The inhaler is not a moral burden and can’t be put in
this frame…
It is really a great loyal friend that helps
patients to move on and practice their lives and professions in a respectful natural
way…
The inhaler…
The loyal friend…
